Being a Parent...

Last friday, I dropped by the SM megamall, I want to buy something for my little girl... I just came from a seminar earlier so I have ample time to look for something she might get interested and play with. Should I get a Doll? or something educational like a pile-up toy... anything... till i received a call from my mobile phone... its my wife... she sounds worried... I told her whats wrong??? she said that my daugther has very high fever, and registered 40 degrees in the thermometer... I told to bring to the hospital... I said bring her to Medical City instead... but hey that kinda far from here, by the way I live in Binangonan Rizal... there hospitals near our house but I rather get her the best service my health card can afford... why not? almost a thousand pesos is deducted from my salary just for the health maintenance why cant I get the best...

We stayed there for 4 days... children these age (12+ months) really get so crancky because of the trauma... specially when they need to insert needles... it really traumatized them.... I my lillte girl's case, it was just 4 months ago since her last confinement... naawa talaga ako at the same time worried.... minsan naiisip ko what if kung wala akong health card... geez... inabot ng 10K ang hospital bills ko.... yun nga good thing i had this card so waived na bill ko.... sa PF (Professional Fee) ng doctor is aroung 5K na cover naman ng PhilHealth... so i just paid around 1.7K these is for the excess dun sa room.... imagine the difference....

A word of advice, if its possible for you to get a health card for your children, do so... its worth the cost... individual plans are costly pero worth it naman e... it's part of being a parent you should always think what is best for your family specially for you children....

True... true...
Health cards and insurance are those products / services you get but hope that you don't have to use. But when you do need them, ayos. ^_^ Sa family namin merong CommCare (geographic health card, para sa southern guys kasi dun lang may CommCare clinic).

G, how does that work? I-enroll yung bata sa medicard, for example? What health card does your kid have?

thank God for health cards. laki sana ng bill ko sa hospital without them. I want to get a health card for my dad or at least insurance with a hospitalization rider but di na siya pwede sa age niya. if you guys have any ideas, gimme a shoutout.

cherry try Caritas Health Shield... its a 3 in 1 card, its a health card, pention and life insurance plan... age limit is up to 60 yrs old.

about nicks question... before naka enroll sa medicard ung kid ko but problem is, you need to enroll your wife first bago yung child (in my case that is)....as of now naka enroll ako and my kid sa Fortune Care which has a higher Limit 120K medicard is only 90K lang yata, or depede sa plan na kinuha mo. basically you kid will get the same services you get as a principal holder. it works like this. if you get hospitalized you will not pay anything including room rate and in-patient medicines, kahit na ma major surgery ka pa as long your bill does not exceed your card limit, otherwise charge sa yo young excess. now with the Help of our Philhealth ussually ung PF ng Dr. dito na kinukuha...big help talaga...

nyark. my dad is already 70+ so ang hirap maghanap ng medical insurance para sa kanya that I can afford. (can't rely on my eldest brother to shell out the cash kasi). I'm also applying for a credit card that has no age limit for extension cards so I can get him a working credit card.
